More About Mike
Following his 30-year career in business, Mike has been working as an Executive Coach since 2012 with individuals and leadership teams, primarily in Finance and Financial Services. He combines his business experience and the experiential with behavioural expertise in his coaching of leaders to enhance their leadership capability and business performance.
Mike’s business career encompassed roles as a senior executive in Wealth Management, Insurance, Mortgages, Corporate & Commercial Banking and in leading strategic change. Mike’s business background means he grasps the essential commercial reality of his clients and their contexts. His ability to combine a person-centred approach alongside the results and outcome focus of coaching in complex organisations sets him apart.
Mike’s practice includes working with those at the most senior levels in organisations – working with his clients in greater depth, exploring the vulnerabilities and anxieties that will often need to be addressed to operate at the most senior levels. His work focuses on developing and sustaining tolerance for situations many people actively avoid: ambiguity, daunting challenges, the anxiety and disapproval of others and our own personal sources of stress.

“I enjoy helping clients to access important data about their context in beginning to understand how their development histories may influence their reactions to their situation and the particular challenges in their workplace. How, for example, a tendency towards merging with others might lead to a reluctance to assert one’s own views or collusion and how tenure and alignment with organisational norms risks conformity and group think”.
